| The idea for this piece had been with me for some time. It had different iterations, but the basic concept was always there - a long, horizontal space filled with light and placed on an ordinary support. The sonotube is a product that I have been attracted to for years. In construction, it’s typically used as a form into which concrete is placed for the building of highway bridges. It’s also used as a form for smaller concrete piers in both commercial and residential construction. At first I wanted to use sawhorses for the base but, given the title, a sawbuck – a tool used for sawing logs – seemed better. |
